The Reality of Digital Assets

What happens to unmaintained websites

“A website isn’t a finished object. It sits on software that keeps changing around it.”

Ecosystem Shifting

Software keeps changing around your site

Plugins release updates, some of which patch security holes. WordPress and other platforms release new versions. PHP gets deprecated. SSL certificates expire. Contact forms stop delivering when an email configuration changes somewhere upstream.

Prevents silent degradation

Cumulative Risk

The problem builds quietly over time

None of this is dramatic on any given day. The problem is cumulative. A site left alone for a year is running outdated software with known vulnerabilities, and the person who notices first is usually not you, it's a visitor seeing a browser security warning, or a search engine flagging the site.

Prevents silent degradation

Silent Lead Loss

Silent failures destroy customer trust

The second problem is quieter. A contact form that silently stops working can go unnoticed for months. There's no error message and no bounce, enquiries simply stop arriving, and by the time anyone investigates, you've lost a season of leads.

Prevents silent degradation

!

Prevention is significantly cheaper than emergency repair

Fixing a hacked server, restoring lost database tables, or recovering months of missed customer leads costs vastly more than proactive monthly care.

Why Maintenance Matters

The difference active care makes

Unmaintained websites are vulnerable to security breaches and slow load times. Agree who handles routine technical care and small improvements.

Without

Software updates

Updates can be missed when nobody owns the task.

With care

Software updates

Applicable updates scheduled and checked under the agreed plan.

Without

Backups

Backup responsibility and restore arrangements may be unclear.

With care

Backups

Agree a schedule, retention period and restoration process.

Without

Support

Requests may have no clear route or agreed response terms.

With care

Support

A contact route, support hours and priority handling are documented.

Without

Performance and forms

Problems can stay unnoticed between content updates.

With care

Performance and forms

Basic performance and form checks at the agreed frequency.

Without

Small content changes

Each small change needs a separate conversation.

With care

Small content changes

A defined monthly allowance; larger changes receive a separate quote.

Plans

Flexible plans. Built around your website.

Your final quote depends on the website requirements, maintenance work, support scope and agreed allowance. The written plan confirms coverage, billing, support hours, response terms, notice periods and any allowance rollover.

Takeover

Sites we didn't build

We maintain sites built by other developers, with one condition: we audit it first.

We review how the site was built, its current condition and what needs attention before recommending coverage. Any review fee, scope and timing are agreed first.

Sometimes the audit reveals the site is in good shape and maintenance is straightforward. Sometimes it reveals problems that need fixing before ongoing maintenance makes sense, and we’ll quote that separately. Occasionally the honest answer is that the site is built badly enough that rebuilding costs less over two years than maintaining it — and we’ll tell you that even though it’s not what you want to hear.

Scope

What isn't included

Being clear about this upfront, because vague maintenance plans lead to arguments later.

Plans cover maintenance and small changes. They don’t cover:

  • New pages or significant new sections
  • Redesigns or layout changes
  • New functionality, modules or integrations
  • Content writing

NymBiTe provides website development, web applications and Website Care. We do not provide SEO, digital marketing, paid advertising, social media management or branding services. Redesigns, new modules, integrations and substantial development work are quoted separately. Care does not include unlimited changes, an uptime guarantee or protection against every security incident. Support hours, response terms and any third-party fees are agreed in writing.

Fit

Who this is for

Businesses without someone in-house handling their website. If nobody at your company knows when your last backup ran or which plugins are outdated, that's the gap this fills. Particularly worth it for e-commerce stores, where downtime directly costs revenue, and for sites where enquiries are the main lead source.

When you might not need it

If you have a technical person in-house already handling updates and backups properly, you don’t need us duplicating that.

Before we begin

A few useful answers.

What does NymBiTe build?

Business websites, redesigns, landing pages and web applications such as booking tools, dashboards and customer portals. Website Care is available for ongoing upkeep.

How long does a website take?

The timeline depends on the pages, functionality, content readiness and review rounds. We agree a schedule after discovery rather than promise the same delivery date for every project.

How is the project scoped?

We discuss the business problem, audience, pages and functionality, then put deliverables, exclusions, review rounds, timeline and costs in a proposal. Additional work is agreed separately.

Who owns the website after launch?

Ownership, source files, access and handover are set out in the project agreement. Your domain and hosting can remain in your accounts. Third-party tools keep their own licensing terms.

Can you work with our hosting and domain provider?

We review your current setup first. If it supports the proposed build, we can plan around it. Any migration or additional hosting cost is discussed before work starts.

Can we update content ourselves?

Yes, when content editing is part of the agreed scope. We can use a CMS for your pages, posts or other content and include an editing walkthrough at handover.

What happens after launch?

We verify the agreed launch checklist and hand over access and guidance. The proposal defines the initial support period; an optional Website Care Plan can cover routine upkeep afterwards.

What is included in Website Care?

A plan can include applicable platform updates, backups, routine security and performance checks, form checks, bug fixes and a defined monthly allowance for small content changes. Frequency, coverage and response terms are written into the plan.

Are major new features included in maintenance?

No. Redesigns, new modules, substantial feature work and new integrations need a separate quote. Website Care does not include unlimited changes or a guarantee against outages or security incidents.

How does payment work?

Payment milestones, currency and any third-party fees are confirmed in the written proposal before work starts. Ask us to include the payment schedule with your quote.

What information do you need to start?

Tell us what your business does, what you need the website or application to achieve, your current site if you have one, and any timing or budget constraints. A short description is enough to begin.
